New Traffic Rules on the A82 at Falls of Falloch: What You Need to Know

20 June 2025 at 2:39 pm (Europe/London)

Starting June 30, 2025, drivers on the A82 Trunk Road near the picturesque Falls of Falloch will encounter new temporary traffic regulations. These measures, set to last until September 30, 2025, aim to enhance public safety and protect the road infrastructure from potential damage.

What’s Changing?

  1. No-Stopping Zone:

    • A clearway is being established on a 3.29-kilometre stretch of the A82. This means no vehicles can stop on the main road or the verges unless directed by a police officer. This clearway runs from about 1.59 km south to 1.7 km north of the Falls of Falloch car park entrance.
  2. Exemptions to the Rule:

    • Certain vehicles are allowed to stop under specific conditions, such as:
      • Emergency services (fire brigade, ambulance, police, coastguard).
      • Postal services delivering mail.
      • Refuse collection by local authorities.
      • Public transport vehicles and taxis picking up or dropping off passengers.
      • Vehicles involved in construction, road maintenance, or utility works adjacent to the road.
  3. Why These Measures?

    • The Scottish Ministers have determined that these restrictions are necessary due to possible dangers to the public and risks of serious damage to the road that are not related to ongoing roadworks.
  4. Alternative Routes:

    • Authorities have considered alternative routes for affected traffic, ensuring minimal disruption for regular road users.

This temporary order reflects a proactive approach by the Scottish Government to maintain safety and road quality in a popular tourist area. Travelers planning to visit the Falls of Falloch or traverse this section of the A82 should plan accordingly and be aware of these restrictions to avoid fines or disruptions.
