Upcoming Traffic Restrictions on A465: What You Need to Know

From 15th August 2025, drivers using the A465 between Aberdulais and Resolven roundabouts in Neath Port Talbot will face temporary traffic restrictions due to essential roadworks. These changes are set to improve the road conditions and are scheduled to last until 1st December 2025, although they may conclude sooner if the works are completed ahead of schedule.

• Effective Date: The restrictions will be in place from 15th August 2025.
• Duration: The order is valid for up to 18 months, but the actual restrictions are planned to end by 1st December 2025.
• Affected Area: The stretch of the A465 from the Aberdulais roundabout to the Resolven roundabout.

Traffic Restrictions:

1. Road Closures and Speed Limits:

   • Certain sections of the A465 will be closed to all vehicles except exempted ones.
   • Speed limits will be enforced:
     • A maximum of 40 mph in specified areas.
     • A maximum of 10 mph in other specified areas during convoy operations.
   • Overtaking will be prohibited in areas where the 10 mph limit is active.

2. Exempt Vehicles:

   • Emergency vehicles and those used for military purposes under specific conditions.

3. Temporary Suspension of Existing Speed Limits:

   • Existing speed limits will be temporarily lifted where new restrictions apply.

Important Notes:

• Traffic signs will be used to indicate when and where these restrictions are active.
• The restrictions will only apply during the periods indicated by these signs.
• Exempt vehicles are not subject to the imposed speed limits.
