
Road Closure Alert: Temporary Restrictions on A40 Trunk Road in Wales

Attention all motorists and cyclists: The Welsh Government has announced a temporary closure of a designated stretch of the A40 trunk road, which runs from Abergavenny, Monmouthshire to Glangrwyne, Powys. This measure is being implemented to facilitate essential roadworks.
Key Details:
- Closure Period: Starting from 8:00 PM on August 20, 2025, until the temporary traffic signs are permanently removed.
- Duration of Order: The order will be in place for a maximum of 18 months.
- Affected Section: The A40 from its junction with the A4143 Merthyr Road roundabout in Abergavenny to a point 219 meters west of the junction with the entrance to Glangrwyney Court, Glangrwyne.
- Exemptions: Only emergency service vehicles and vehicles directly involved in the roadworks are allowed access during the closure.
- Cyclist Restriction: Cyclists will also be prohibited from using this section of the road during the works.
Implementation: The restrictions will only be active during specified times as indicated by traffic signs.
This temporary order has been signed on behalf of the Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales, a member of the Welsh Government, by Nicci Hunter, Business Team Leader, Welsh Government.
