Attention drivers! If you're planning to travel on the M77/A77 near Turnberry soon, there's an important update you need to know. The Scottish Government has issued a temporary order affecting this major trunk road.

What’s Happening?

From July 25 to July 31, 2025, a new rule will be in place prohibiting any vehicle from waiting, loading, or unloading along a specific stretch of the M77/A77. This applies to both the northbound and southbound lanes between the North and South gateway signposts, covering approximately 900 meters.

Why the Change?

The Scottish Ministers have determined that this restriction is necessary due to potential dangers to the public or risk of serious road damage that isn't related to ongoing roadworks. To ensure safety and road integrity, they’ve decided to temporarily restrict certain activities along this stretch of road.

Who’s Affected?

This order applies to all vehicles except emergency service vehicles such as those used by the fire brigade, ambulance, police, or coastguard. These vehicles will maintain their right to use the road for urgent duties.

Signage and Compliance

The affected area will be marked with specific traffic signs indicating the prohibition of waiting, loading, and unloading. These signs will be in line with official traffic regulations, ensuring clarity for all road users.

Plan Your Journey

Drivers are advised to consider alternative routes during this period if their journey involves activities that fall under the prohibition. This will help avoid inconvenience and ensure compliance with the new temporary regulations.
