Starting September 22, 2025, a new speed limit is set to take effect on a crucial stretch of the A828 Trunk Road at Benderloch, Scotland. The Scottish Ministers have introduced a temporary 20mph speed restriction to enhance safety due to potential hazards on the road. This restriction will remain in place until March 22, 2027.

Where is the New Limit?

The speed limit applies to a specific 827-metre section of the A828, beginning 72 metres east of the junction with Keil Gardens and extending to 347 metres south of the junction with Ceum Dunrigh.

Why the Change?

Scottish authorities have determined that reducing speed on this road is necessary to prevent danger to the public and avoid serious damage to the road itself. The decision considered alternative routes, ensuring minimal disruption for regular commuters.

Who Needs to Slow Down?

All vehicle users must adhere to this new limit. However, exceptions apply for certain vehicles, such as those involved in special forces operations under specific regulations, and vehicles used in emergencies for coastguard purposes.

Stay Informed

Look out for traffic signs indicating the speed limit change. These signs follow the design outlined in the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016, ensuring they are easily recognizable.

For local drivers and travelers alike, it's crucial to adapt to these changes for your safety and the safety of others on the road. Keep an eye on the signs, adjust your speed, and ensure a smooth journey on the A828.
