New Speed Limit Alert: Temporary 20mph Restriction on M9/A90/M90 at Crimond

15 September 2025 at 5:30 pm (Europe/London)

Attention drivers! Starting from September 22, 2025, a new temporary speed limit of 20mph will be enforced on a specific section of the M9/A90/M90 trunk road at Crimond. This measure will be in place until March 22, 2027, so plan your journeys accordingly.

Why the Change?

The Scottish Ministers have implemented this temporary restriction due to concerns over public safety and potential damage to the road that isn't related to construction work. By reducing the speed limit, they aim to mitigate these risks effectively.

Where Exactly Is This Happening?

The affected road section stretches from a point roughly 172 metres northwest of the junction with Logie Road, moving eastward to a point approximately 150 metres east of the junction with Starnafin Road. This is a distance of about 602 metres.

Who Needs to Comply?

All drivers using this road section must adhere to the 20mph limit, except for certain vehicles. Exemptions include:

  • Special Forces Vehicles: As outlined in specific regulations, when operating under designated conditions.
  • Emergency Coastguard Vehicles: Engaged in emergency duties.

Stay Informed

Keep an eye out for traffic signs indicating the speed restriction, which will be clearly displayed as per the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016. Always prioritize safety and follow posted speed limits to ensure compliance and contribute to road safety efforts.
