New Coach Parking Rules Set for Glengall Street, Belfast in August 2025
Starting August 1, 2025, Glengall Street in Belfast will see new regulations for coach and bus parking, thanks to a recently approved order by the Department for Infrastructure. These changes are designed to streamline the use of parking spaces and ensure a smooth flow of traffic in the area.
Key Highlights:
-
Dedicated Parking Spot: A specific section of Glengall Street's north side, stretching 60.8 meters east from its intersection with Durham Street, has been designated exclusively for buses and coaches.
-
Time Limitations: Coaches and buses can park for a maximum of 20 minutes. After leaving, they cannot return to the same spot for at least 1 hour.
-
Strict Usage Rules: Only buses and coaches are permitted in these spaces, with clear markings indicating parking spots. Vehicles must park fully within these designated areas.
-
Exceptions: Certain vehicles can use the space under specific circumstances, such as emergencies involving medical practitioners or maintenance work by utility services. Brief stops for passenger pick-up or drop-off are allowed, provided they don’t exceed 2 minutes.
-
Enforcement and Penalties: A penalty charge of £90 will be imposed for any violations. Traffic signs will be installed to guide and inform drivers about these new rules.
-
Revocations: This order also does away with previous regulations from 2009 and 2014 concerning parking and loading bays on Glengall Street.
This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve traffic management and parking efficiency in the vibrant city of Belfast. Keep an eye out for the new signage and make sure to comply with the updated regulations to avoid fines.
