Starting from 4th August 2025, motorists travelling on a specific stretch of the A78 Greenock – Prestwick Trunk Road near Sharphill Roundabout should be aware of a temporary speed restriction. This new regulation, established by the Scottish Ministers, is designed to enhance safety and protect the road from potential damage.

  • Speed Limit: A 40mph speed limit will be enforced.
  • Affected Area: The restriction covers 450 metres of the A78, stretching from 180 metres west of Sharphill Roundabout, through the roundabout itself, to 180 metres east.
  • Duration: This temporary measure will be in place until 4th February 2026.
