Temporary Traffic Restrictions on A494 Trunk Road in Gwynedd Announced

The Welsh Ministers, responsible for traffic management on the A494 trunk road, have announced temporary traffic restrictions between Bethel and Glanyrafon in Gwynedd. This decision is due to essential roadworks planned in the area.

• Effective Date: The order comes into force on July 25, 2025, and could last up to 18 months, although it is expected to end once the temporary traffic signs are permanently removed.

Traffic Restrictions:

1. Width Restriction: Vehicles wider than 3.5 metres, except exempted vehicles, are prohibited during the works.

2. Speed Limit: A temporary speed limit of 40 mph will be enforced.

3. Overtaking Ban: Overtaking is prohibited for all vehicles, except those exempted, when the 40 mph speed limit is active.

Exemptions:

• The restrictions do not apply to certain exempted vehicles. These include vehicles used for specific official purposes as outlined in relevant traffic regulation acts, and those operated by the military under certain conditions.

• The speed limits set by this order do not apply to exempted vehicles.

Implementation:

• The restrictions will only be in place when indicated by traffic signs.
