Attention Drone Enthusiasts and Pilots: New Flying Restrictions Over Llanelwedd for the Royal Welsh Show!
If you're planning to fly your drone or any unmanned aircraft near Llanelwedd, Powys this July, you'll want to pay close attention to new regulations set by the UK government. From July 20th to July 24th, 2025, flying drones below 2,000 feet above sea level within a one-nautical-mile radius of Llanelwedd will be prohibited. This temporary airspace restriction coincides with the Royal Welsh Show, a major event expected to draw large crowds.
What You Need to Know:
- Restriction Duration: The no-fly zone will be in effect from 0700 hours on July 20th until 1700 hours on July 24th, 2025.
- Area Affected: A one-nautical-mile radius centered at 520929N 0032427W, which covers the vicinity of the Royal Welsh Show.
- Exemptions: If you have special permission from the Dyfed-Powys Police Service airspace coordinator, your unmanned aircraft may be exempt from this restriction.
This measure, requested by the Dyfed-Powys Police and supported by the Civil Aviation Authority and the Department for Transport, aims to ensure public safety and security during the event. Keep in mind that these times are in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), which is one hour behind British Summer Time (BST).
For those needing permission to fly during this period, it's crucial to contact the Dyfed-Powys Police airspace coordinator well in advance. Further details will be disseminated via Aeronautical Information Circular (AIC) and Notice to Aviation (NOTAM).
For more information, reach out to Mr. David Ridley, Airspace Regulator at the Civil Aviation Authority, at 03301 382471.
Stay informed and ensure your drone activities comply with these new regulations to enjoy a safe and secure event experience!
