Attention Pilots: Temporary Flight Restrictions Over RAF Syerston Set for August 2025
The skies over Royal Air Force Syerston in Nottinghamshire are about to get a whole lot busier, and for a good reason. On the 20th of August, 2025, the Air Cadet National Air and Space Camp will host its exhilarating flying displays. To ensure safety during these high-energy aerial performances, the UK government has issued a temporary flight restriction.
What You Need to Know:
Date and Time:
- 20th August 2025
- Restrictions are in place from 0930 to 1630 UTC (that's 1030 to 1730 British Summer Time).
Restricted Airspace Details:
- Altitude: No aircraft is allowed to fly below 8,300 feet above mean sea level.
- Area: The restricted zone is a circle with a radius of 4 nautical miles, centred at coordinates 530120N 0005501W.
Exceptions to the Rule:
The following aircraft are exempt from this restriction:
- Those with special permission from the Royal Air Force Air Cadet National Air and Space Camp flying display director.
- Aircraft operated by or on behalf of a Police Air Unit or Emergency Medical Services.
Why the Restriction?
The Secretary of State for Transport has decreed these measures to ensure public safety, given the complex aerial manoeuvres expected during the event. Both the Civil Aviation Authority and the Department for Transport support this decision to keep the airspace around the event secure.
For More Information:
- Details about these regulations will be distributed via Aeronautical Information Circular (AIC) and Notice to Aviation (NOTAM).
- If you have questions or need further clarity, contact Mr. Alan Frew, Airspace Regulator at the Civil Aviation Authority, at 03301 1382734.
Pilots are advised to plan accordingly and avoid the restricted area during the specified times to ensure compliance and maintain safety for all.
