Heads Up, Aviators: Flight Restrictions Over Cromer for August 2025 Carnival Air Show
Attention all pilots and aviation enthusiasts! Mark your calendars for August 20, 2025, as Cromer, Norfolk, will host a thrilling air display, and with it comes some essential flying restrictions to ensure safety for both performers and the public.
What's Happening? The skies over Cromer are set to dazzle with a series of high-energy aerial manoeuvres as part of the Cromer Carnival. To keep everyone safe, the UK government has issued a temporary airspace restriction.
When and Where?
- Date: 20th August 2025
- Time: 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM British Summer Time (BST)
- Restricted Area: A 2.5 nautical mile radius circle centered at 52°56'14"N 01°17'14"E, up to 3,000 feet above mean sea level.
Who Can Fly? During these hours, the airspace is off-limits to all aircraft, except for:
- Aircraft with permission from the Cromer Carnival flying display director.
- Police Air Support Units.
- Emergency Medical Services.
- Maritime and Coast Guard Agency aircraft conducting search and rescue operations.
Why the Restrictions? The Civil Aviation Authority and the Department for Transport have determined that these restrictions are necessary for public safety due to the large number of aircraft and complex aerial displays planned.
Need Permission? If you need to fly in the restricted area, contact the Cromer Carnival flying display director for permission.
Stay Informed: These restrictions will be detailed further in an Aeronautical Information Circular (AIC) and Notice to Aviation (NOTAM). For more information, reach out to Mr. A H Frew at the Civil Aviation Authority via 03301 382734.
Don't miss out on this exciting event, and if you're flying, make sure to plan accordingly to accommodate these temporary changes!
