Starting 20th June 2025, drivers in Castlerock should be aware of new traffic restrictions that will affect Circular Road. The Department for Infrastructure has introduced a no-waiting rule on a specific section of this road. Here's what you need to know:

Where and When:

  • Location: Circular Road, on the north-west side, beginning 15 metres north-east from its junction with Sea Road, extending for 137 metres.
  • Restriction: No waiting at any time, but loading and unloading are permitted.

Exceptions to the Rule:

  • Vehicles can pause for boarding or alighting passengers, provided it doesn't exceed two minutes.
  • Emergency services and medical practitioners can stop if necessary.
  • Postal services are allowed to pause for mail delivery or collection.
  • Vehicles used for building, repair, or demolition operations, or those dealing with traffic obstructions, can stop if they cannot be used elsewhere.
  • Utility vehicles, such as those from water companies or electricity providers, may also use this space.
  • Temporary stops for loading or unloading goods are permitted.

Penalties:

  • A penalty of £90 applies for any violations.

Why This Matters: This change aims to improve traffic flow and safety on Circular Road. Signs will be installed to remind drivers of the new rules. Make sure to comply to avoid fines and contribute to a smoother transport experience in Castlerock.
