Important Flying Restrictions Over Windsor for July State Visit

4 July 2025 at 3:05 am (Europe/London)

Attention all aviators and drone operators! Significant temporary flying restrictions are being imposed over Windsor due to a high-profile State Visit to the UK. Here's what you need to know to stay compliant and ensure safety during this event.

Key Details:

  • Dates and Times: The restrictions are in place from 0500 to 1500 hours UTC on the 7th and 8th of July, 2025. Remember, UTC is one hour behind British Summer Time (BST).

  • Affected Area: The no-fly zone covers a specific area around Windsor, defined by a series of coordinates. If you're planning to fly in or around Windsor, it's crucial to check the exact boundaries to avoid violations.

  • Altitude Restriction: No aircraft is permitted to fly below 2,500 feet above mean sea level within the specified area during the restricted hours.

  • Exemptions: Some flights are exempt from these restrictions, including:

    • Flights approaching or departing from London City Airport, London Heathrow Airport, and Royal Air Force Northolt under specific air traffic control.
    • Operations by Police Air Support Units, Emergency Medical Services, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, the King’s Helicopter Flight, or members of the Royal Family.
    • Flights with special permission from the Thames Valley Police.
  • Non-Standard Flights: All non-standard and enhanced non-standard flight clearances within the restricted zone are temporarily revoked. Similarly, helicopter routes H10 and H3 are unavailable during this period.

  • Why the Restrictions?: These measures are part of the security arrangements for the State Visit, aimed at ensuring public safety.

For any inquiries or further clarification, aviators can contact Mr. David Ridley, Airspace Regulator at the Civil Aviation Authority, on 03301 382471.

To ensure you're fully informed, look out for detailed briefings and Notices to Aviation (NOTAM) regarding these restrictions.
