Liverpools Skies to be Drone-Free Zone During Labour Party Conference

23 June 2025 at 7:10 am (Europe/London)

Attention, drone enthusiasts and operators: a temporary airspace restriction will soon take effect over Liverpool. From 11:00 AM on September 27, 2025, until 10:59 PM on October 1, 2025, flying unmanned aircraft below 2,200 feet will be off-limits in a specific area around Kings Dock. This measure is part of a security plan for the Labour Party Conference, a decision made by the Secretary of State to ensure public safety.

Key Details:

  • Restricted Zone: A 1-nautical-mile radius centered at coordinates 53°23'50"N 002°59'29"W.
  • Timing: The restriction aligns with Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), which is one hour behind British Summer Time (BST).

Exceptions to the Rule:

  • Drones with special permission from the Merseyside Police Airspace Coordinator.
  • Aircraft operated by emergency services or the Ministry of Defence during emergencies.

This temporary regulation underscores the importance of security at major public events and the role of drone use management. Operators wishing to fly within the restricted area must secure the necessary permissions to avoid penalties.
