UK Government Lifts Emergency Flight Ban Over Mosborough
In a swift move, the UK government has lifted emergency flight restrictions over Mosborough, effective immediately. The decision, formalised in the Air Navigation (Restriction of Flying) (Mosborough) (Emergency) (Revocation) Regulations 2025, was signed off at 10:30 a.m. on June 16, 2025, by Karen Michaels from the Department for Transport.
The initial restrictions were put in place under the Air Navigation (Restriction of Flying) (Mosborough) (Emergency) Regulations 2025, following an undisclosed emergency. However, the Secretary of State has now determined that the situation no longer poses a threat, thus making the restrictions unnecessary.
This regulatory change impacts the airspace specified in the original emergency order, which was enacted under article 239 of the Air Navigation Order 2016. The revocation signifies a return to normalcy for air traffic in the region, relieving airlines and local aviation stakeholders from the constraints imposed by the emergency order.
The explanatory note accompanying the revocation clarifies that the emergency conditions prompting the initial restrictions have been resolved, allowing for the resumption of regular flying activities in the area.
For aviators and local residents, this means the skies over Mosborough are open once again, signalling an end to the temporary disruption and marking a return to standard aviation operations.
