Road Closure Alert: A458 in Welshpool for VE Day Street Party

The Welsh Ministers have announced a temporary road closure on the A458 trunk road in Welshpool, Powys, to facilitate the VE Day Street Party. This significant and festive event will take place on May 3, 2025.

Key Details:

• Road Affected: The closure applies to the section of the A458 from Broad Street to High Street in Welshpool, stretching from The Cross to the southern end of the traffic island at Jehu Road.

• Duration: The order will be in effect for a maximum of one day, starting from 11:00 AM on May 3, 2025, until the temporary traffic signs are permanently removed.

• Exemptions:

  • Emergency vehicles (police, fire, and ambulance services)
  • Vehicles involved in road works, traffic sign operations, or emergency repairs to utilities
  • Authorized event vehicles for safety and support purposes

• Cyclists: The use of pedal bicycles is also prohibited on the specified section during the event period.

Implementation:

Traffic signs will clearly indicate the prohibitions, ensuring that the restrictions are only in place when necessary during the event.
