Attention all road users in Bala, Gwynedd, as the Welsh Government has announced temporary traffic restrictions on the A494 trunk road due to the upcoming Bala Triathlon. These measures are designed to ensure the safety of all participants and spectators during the event.

Restrictions:

  1. Road Closures:

    • No vehicles, except exempted ones, will be allowed on the designated section of the A494 during the closure period.
    • Pedestrians and cyclists are also prohibited from accessing this section during the same period.
  2. Speed Limit:

    • A temporary speed limit of 40 MPH will be enforced on another section of the A494.
    • This speed restriction applies to all vehicles except those exempted, such as emergency services and vehicles supporting the triathlon.

Exemptions: Certain vehicles are exempt from these restrictions, including:

  • Public service vehicles
  • Emergency service vehicles
  • Vehicles used for roadworks or essential utilities work
  • Authorized vehicles supporting the triathlon for safety purposes
  • Military vehicles under specific conditions

Affected Areas:

  • Complete Road Closure: A section of the A494 from 12 meters southwest of the junction leading to Penllyn Leisure Centre to 6 meters northeast of the junction leading to Ryd-y-main near Ysgol Ieuan Gwynedd.
  • Temporary Speed Limit Zone: A segment of the A494 starting 198 meters northeast of the junction with the A4212, extending 500 meters further northeast.

  • Statutory speed limits on the affected section will be temporarily suspended during the enforcement of this order.
